Expect more news, art, poetry and reasons to hold onto these mailings as the year progresses.

As always, our gatherings are open to all Pagans of good will, as well as sympathizers and respectful friends. Come and join us as we keep the Old Ways in our days!

2012 Imbolc/Spring

Brighid's Cross

The Feast of Brigid

na Féile Bríde

Sunday February 5

Doors Open at 2:00, Rite at 5ish

River Grove Picnic Area

North Chagrin Reservation, Cleveland Metroparks

At the far edge of Winter's deep, we light the Fire of Blessing and call for the Waters to flow! The Feast of Imbolc is the holy rite of the Goddess of Hearth and Skills - Brigid the High One, and also of her father Dagda, the Druid of the Gods. In this season we give thanks for the blessings we have received through the winter, and ask for the blessing of new strength, health and inspiration for the coming spring.

We will have our usual pot-luck feast following the rite. At Imbolc we encourage folks to bring a scrap a lace or fine fabric to be blessed at the Hallows as a Brat Brid - a Brigid's Cloak. The Brat is an Irish healing custom, especially potent, it is said, for pain of the head and eyes. We will also once again renew our Grove Oath, and hear the oaths of those who might be beginning our training and practice.

Imbolc Food Drive: In Gaelic tradition, Imbolc is the season in which the winter larder is growing bare, while the land is not yet returning to growth. So the Goddess Brigid is asked to keep the family provided for, to stave off hunger until warmth returns. In honor of this tradition we call for a collection of canned and boxed food to be taken up, so that we may share our bounty with the poor and hungry, as is proper. Please bring a donation of food, as your own resources allow. We would like to make a good showing for the local food bank, and accompany it with a letter.

The Feast Of Eostre

Honoring The Dawn Lady And The Golden Lord

Sunday March 18 Doors Open At 2:00 Rite At 4:ish

River Grove Picnic Area

North Chagrin Reservation, Cleveland Metroparks

The Sun is growing and the land is awakening as we gather to keep the Feast of Spring. Come and join in the offerings to the Lady of the East, Golden Eostre, the dawn goddess, and to Lord Ing, the power of the Rising Sap, rider of the Golden Boar. Bring seeds to be blessed, whether for the garden or seeds of ideas or plans for your altar or your life. Pot luck feasting following the rite as always.

Lore Talk - Learning the Ways

Eostre Egg

Beginning at Spring Equinox Stone Creed will be adding a new feature to our High Day celebrations. During the set-up we will be offering a workshop on some topic related to our Pagan lore and practices. These will be short bites of 45 minutes to an hour, presented by one of our Elders, most likely, and will sometimes involve a video, so we mean to keep it informative and light.

Lore Talk 1: A Survey of the Ancient World. When trying to read the histories and analyses of ancient religion and magic it is easy to be confused without a basic grasp of the geography and timeline of pre-Christian Europe and the Indo-European world. Ian will use several hand-outs (and maybe some multi-media) to provide a skeletal outline. Can't tell a Bachtrian from a bacterium? Is one man's Mede another man's Persian? What were the Celts doing when Atlantis sank ; )? We'll get it sorted out.
