DESCRIPTION:As the wheel of the year continues to turn we find ourselves at the end of the Harvest season\, hinging on Winter. As the world around us dies and falls into winter slumber\, we turn our thoughts to those who have passed beyond our world as people in ancient times did. In this season\, the Veil Between the Worlds is thin and we can connect with our Ancestors and Beloved Dead more readily. \nStone Creed Grove celebrates this High Day in the traditional Irish Celtic hearth-culture\, honoring the Irish deities The Morrigan and Donn. We also honor our Ancestors of Heart and Kin- those who walked through this life with us as friends and family\, those whose work has inspired us\, and those whose lives helped to create our lives- with special mention to those who have passed within the last year. \nThis celebration will occur near the Tredara’s Ancestor Mound which contains the remains and mementos of many of our Beloved Dead. \nThis rite will be a hybrid event\, occurring both via Zoom\, and in-person for those fully vaccinated.

SUMMARY:Yule 2023 Ritual
DESCRIPTION:We are now in the time of winter\, where snow is beginning to be upon us\, but the folk are safe indoors happily enjoying the fruits of their fall harvest. For the peoples of Scandanavia\, this time not only was full of darkness\, cold\, and snow\, but also marked the beginning of the sacred year and a celebration that life had not left this world. It is for this reason that evergreens and holly become common decorations in our homes and in our rites.\nThis is our biggest Norse rite of the year\, and heathen folk are of course welcome along with the rest of the general public. Come anytime after 2 PM for fellowship\, discussions\, and helping out with setup.\nSome specific customs that you might want to plan for in advance:\n– Oaths: There will be an opportunity to make personal oaths on a boar’s head. Consider what vow – if any – you would like to make.\n– Gift exchange: $5-10 value. Specify an appropriate age for the gift: Under-12\, 12+\, or if it is a 21+ beverage label it as such. Children’s gifts are distributed separately from adult and teen gifts.\n– Feasting: As usual\, we hold a potluck feast after the rite. Please bring a dish for 8-10 people to share.\n– Group singing: The Stone Creed caroling and wassailing songbooks come out for musical fun led by our bards.\n– More group singing: We include in the rite a choral version of The Boar’s Head Carol. If you’re interested in singing it\, download the sheet music.\n\nDue to technical limitations of the location\, this ritual cannot be broadcast in real time for those wanting to participate remotely. We will endeavor to provide a video version of it on our Youtube channel as soon as we can after the ritual.

SUMMARY:Beltaine 2024 Ritual
DESCRIPTION:Beltainne is the time of late planting and the beginning of the growing season in colder climates. For many ancient peoples\, this was the beginning of their summer season\, which would continue until Samhain.\n\nFor Stone Creed Grove\, this marks our first ritual of the year performed in our grove’s ritual space at Tredara. This is one of our major Celtic rites\, honoring the deities Aine Glas (“Green Aine”) and Aengus Og the Harper\, as well as the various tribes of Sidhe-folk. Come for a time of worship through flowers\, music\, and dancing.\n\nAs always\, our grove rituals will be followed by a potluck feast. A grill is available for cooking on the site.
